Charlie Patierno is a drumer, percussionist, producer, teacher and composer well known in the Philly, Jersey and New York music scenes. He is a classically trained pianist who graduated from The University of the Arts in Philly in 2005 with a B.A. degree in jazz performance. Charlie has performed internationally with legendary guitarist Jef Lee Johnson while holding down drum chair in Philly’s finest power soul and funk group The Blue Method. He has played venues from the Philly and NYC jazz clubs to the Nokia Theater in Times Square and the Kennedy Center in D.C. On record, Charlie holds drumming and/or production credits on many albums including such recent major releases as “My One and Only Chill Out Remixs” under alias Charles LP (Universal Fall ’10), The Roots’-“Get Busy” on Rising Down (Def Jam April ’08), Melody Gardot’s "Worrisome Heart" (Universal/Verve Feb ’08) and her current release "My One and Only Thrill" (Universal/Verve April ’09) which was nominated for three Grammy awards. Jef Lee Johnson trio “Zimmerman Shadow”, which greatly showcases his drumming was released Feb ’10 on French jazz label Hope Street.
