Matthew Kiple

Dr. Matthew Kiple holds professional appointments as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Music Theory at Shenandoah University, University of Delaware, and Temple University. Matt earned his PhD from Temple University in 2020. Prior to his doctoral studies, Matt completed his BM degree in Piano at Westminster Choir College and his MM degree in Piano Performance at Temple University, where he studied with James Goldsworthy and Charles Abramovic, respectively. Matt has performed in recitals as part of the International Keyboard Institute and Festival, New York Piano Festival and Competition, and World Piano Conference in Novi Sad, Serbia. He has also presented his research at annual meetings for the New England Conference of Music Theorists (NECMT), Society for Music Theory (SMT), AEMC International Conference on Music, Communication, and Performance, and Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic (MTSMA), where he won the MTSMA 2020 Dorothy Payne Award for Best Student Paper, “Collection Space: Systematizing Parsimonious Transformations in French Scalar Tonality.”
